INTRODUCTION
"ABOUT BAVI"

BIRTH
BAVI began on August 2 at around 9 p.m. at Tropical Low Pressure 17 in waters about 20 km southeast of Taipei. Tropical cyclones developed with slow organization of convective cells, with sub-tropical pressures remaining in the lower to southwest, and sub-tropical pressures remaining in the sub-tropical trough.
DEVELOPMENT
Until August 24, typhoon intensity development was limited due to the influx of north-west high pressure, but after August 25, it developed into a very strong typhoon. It developed from the southwest coast of Jeju Island to the central atmospheric pressure of 945 hPa at 9 p.m. on the 26th, and maintained a strong intensity from the west coast of Jeju to the southwest coast of Mokpo. It then moved to west of Seosan and weakened slightly to 955 hPa, maintaining a central atmospheric pressure of 960 hPa, a central wind speed of 39 m/s, and an intensity ‘strong’ when it landed on the Ongjin Peninsula.
WEAKNESS
After landing, the typhoon was dragged by the upper jet stream and gradually began to weaken, moving toward North Korea quickly. At around 15:00 on 27 August, it was transformed into a temperate low atmospheric pressure on land approximately 180 km east of Shenyang, China.
